Crown & Root: A Day of Connection, Creativity and Community at The Oak Grove
Our stall holders sold locally handmade items and ethically sourced items.
On Saturday 30th May 2026, our woodland venue came alive with music, laughter, conversation and moments of quiet reflection as we welcomed over 150 guests to the very first Crown & Root – An Alternative Folk Gathering.
Nestled beneath the ancient oaks of The Oak Grove and extending into the riverside spaces of Leven is Strijd, the sold-out gathering that brought together a vibrant community of makers, practitioners, traders and curious souls for a day dedicated to wellbeing, creativity and connection.
From the moment guests arrived, there was a sense of calm and openness. People wandered through the woodland at their own pace, exploring hidden corners, meeting local traders, discovering new practices and simply enjoying the opportunity to slow down and reconnect with nature.

Throughout the day, visitors took part in an incredible range of experiences led by talented local practitioners. From yoga, qigong and pilates to reiki, crystal healing, reflexology and sound therapy, there were opportunities for both relaxation and personal exploration.
The woodland echoed with the sounds of crystal singing bowls, gong baths and Twisted Drumming, while tarot readers, rune readers, mediums and oracle card practitioners offered insight and guidance for those seeking it. Workshops introduced guests to rune symbols, bind writing and spiritual practices, while aura photography captured colourful snapshots of individual energy and personality.
One of the most rewarding aspects of the day was seeing connections form naturally. Friends met friends, strangers became acquaintances, and conversations flowed easily between the trees. Crown & Root was created with community at its heart, and it was wonderful to see that vision come to life.
As one attendee shared:
"I had such a lovely relaxing day at the Crown & Root yesterday! Such a beautiful venue and atmosphere and I met so many amazing people and traders."
As a sober event, the focus remained firmly on wellbeing, meaningful connection and shared experiences. Guests enjoyed delicious food and refreshments throughout the day before gathering together for an uplifting sober dance to close the event.
For us, Crown & Root was about more than a programme of activities. It was about creating a welcoming space where people could feel comfortable being themselves, explore new ideas, learn from local practitioners and spend time immersed in the healing power of nature.
The response exceeded all expectations, and we are incredibly grateful to every guest, practitioner, trader and member of the team who helped make the day such a success.
The Oak Grove has always been a place where people come together to celebrate life's most meaningful moments, whether through weddings, handfastings, anniversaries or community events. Crown & Root felt like a natural extension of that ethos — a gathering rooted in connection, creativity and a deep appreciation for the natural world.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this first gathering. We have a feeling this is only the beginning.
Watch this space for future Crown & Root events.
