About Us

We specialise in relaxed, nature-immersed weddings and handfasting ceremonies, with a focus on sustainability, creativity and genuine self-expression. Our ethos centres around inclusivity, eco-conscious practices and creating a safe, welcoming environment where all couples can celebrate in a way that truly reflects who they are.

The venue is female-owned and founded by an artist and sculptor, which really shapes the feel of the space. The woodland setting naturally lends itself to alternative styling, creative installations and festival-inspired celebrations, and we work with many independent and ethical suppliers who share similar values.

The Venue Location

Sitting between the villages of Upchurch and Lower Halstow in Kent, and set along the peaceful banks of the River Medway, The Oak Grove offers a secluded, outdoor setting for couples seeking a laid-back, yet beautifully curated summer wedding while still having fast train and road transport links from London, Kent and Essex.

We host weddings exclusively on Saturdays, with only 18 dates available each summer, so your day really is your own. You’ll have access to the venue the day before to set up at your own pace, and the morning after to collect your things, because rushing around is not the vibe of this wedding venue.

DINNING, DANCE & BAR AREA

Our stunning stretch tents are beautifully vaulted within a ring of towering oak trees, creating a truly captivating setting for your event. The main tent is larger than a triple-hat tipi, offering a spacious area under one roof. Two smaller tents are seamlessly connected to the main tent, providing ideal spaces for catering, a relaxed lounge area, a bar, and dancing.

We can comfortably accommodate up to 132 guests during the day and up to 160 guests in the evening. We’ve ensured that our site has disabled access and is easily available. There is also ample parking, including overnight options for your convenience.

WEDDINGS,  CIVIL PARTNERSHIP & HANDFASTING

Weddings and handfastings at our venue take place beneath the elegant 'Living’ Arbor. Positioned on a gentle grassy mound, this natural structure serves as a striking focal point for your ceremony, providing a serene and picturesque setting for your vows.

The seating area in front of the arbor can comfortably accommodate up to 132 guests, allowing everyone to enjoy the beauty and tranquillity of the surroundings as you celebrate your special day.

ANTIQUE WOODLAND BARS

Our beautiful, fully staffed antique bar is open throughout the day, offering your guests a welcoming place to gather and enjoy drinks. In the evening, our Cocktail Bar takes center stage, serving a range of freshly made classic cocktails, along with our signature Oak Grove drinks for a truly unique touch. We also source from local Kentish providers where possible.

The bar serves as a natural focal point for your guests, providing a relaxed and sociable atmosphere. We also offer competitive options for post-ceremony drinks and carefully selected wines to complement your reception and enhance your celebration.

WEDDING DINING

At The Oak Grove, we know how important your wedding breakfast is, and we’re here to help make it unforgettable. We provide high-quality furniture, including tables and chairs, to create a stylish and comfortable dining space. Whether you prefer long tables, intimate groupings, or casual seating, we can tailor the setup to fit your vision.

Whether it's a traditional three-course meal or something more unique, we can assist your chosen caterer (see our preferred partners) in bringing your vision to life, making your wedding breakfast as seamless and memorable as the rest of your day.

WOODLAND KITCHEN

Available for your caterers, our 3m x 6m woodland kitchen is fully equipped with everything needed for a smooth and efficient service. It features hot and cold running water, a double sink, a dedicated food prep area, along with power and heating for your convenience.

We provide all glasses, cutlery and crockery and have staff to help with dishwashing and clearing.

FIRE PITS & CHILLED AREAS

As the evening draws in, guests can gather around the fire pit (fully stocked for your use), sharing stories under the stars while the warmth of the flames keeps the party glowing late into the night.

Around the site, relaxed lounge areas offer comfortable spots to pause, chat and soak in the woodland atmosphere.

For younger guests, our children’s play horse box is a little adventure of its own. Inside they’ll find a PlayStation and space to hang out, while outside, there are outdoor toys and room to play freely.

LUXURY HORSEBOX TOILETS

We provide five luxury toilets converted from vintage horseboxes, offering both charm and comfort for your guests. Fully stocked with all the essentials, our facilities include two female toilets, two male toilets, and one accessible toilet with baby changing facilities.

These modern, water-flushing toilets (not chemical) are meticulously maintained and cleaned throughout the day, ensuring your guests’ comfort and convenience.
